The Ultimate Kindergarten Reading List

One of the most important things children will learn in school is to read.  The best way for children to learn to read is to READ, READ, READ! As parents and educators, we can give our children the gift of reading which will last a lifetime if we set an example by letting them see us read, reading to them, and providing them with a wide array of books, including traditional trade books and online books, such as those that can be found on www.getepic.com. Using the audio feature on Epic allows the children to learn to recognize new sight words, learn language patterns, develop listening skills, and learn to use proper intonation when reading.  It also provides a model for reading fluently.

As we know, kids are never too young for a reading list full of good books to read! To help plan your book-filled summer fun, or supplement your kid’s reading during the school year we’ve put together a kindergarten reading list. These kindergarten books will keep your family reading all year.

We like to think of this kindergarten reading list as a capsule of books for young kids. Some of the books your child might be able to read on their own.  The most important thing is to adopt D.E.A.R. (Drop  Everything  And  Read) as a part of your daily or weekly routine.  This experience will be .time well spent for you and your children.
